A Q&A with Lucy Matthews
We decided to have a quick catch up with our favourite Terry de Havilland girls, Lucy Matthews. If you follow us on Instagram (which you should) then you will have seen us repost Lucy Matthews wearing our new SS20 collection boots, the Val White. Her style fits our brand effortlessly and we wanted to find out who her style icons are, why she loves our brand and her tips to styling our Val boot. Check out her Q&A below:
1. How would you describe your personal style?
I would personally describe my style as a modern and simplistic take on the ’60s & 70’s fashion. I love to incorporate modern trends with a vintage element, to give it my own stamp and to make it more me! Often if I pick out an item of clothing and show my friends, I get the response; “it’s very you!” But I tend to stay clear of any of the intense vintage trends as I don’t want my outfit to come across as too ‘costumey’! So I love to pair more classic pieces with some statement items.
2. What is your biggest fashion influence?
Hands down my biggest fashion influences are 60’s and 70’s music icons – male & female! I love to add a masculine edge to some more feminine outfits to make the outfit in my opinion ‘abit cooler’.
3. Who is your favourite 70s icon?
I absolutely adore Francois Hardy, she is a true Parisian IT girl. She epitomizes the 60’s and 70’s french fashion, but in the coolest & simple approach.
4. Why do you love TDH shoes?
I love the history of the TDH shoes & who the brand has dressed! I love the identifiable inspiration behind the shoe designs. I think they are the perfect statement to add to any outfit.
5. What is your favourite pair of TDH shoes?
100% the White Val Boots! They amp up any outfit, I love pairing them with my dresses & skirts. The white creates such a statement which I love! The length and style add a beautiful vintage element to my outfits.
6. Describe how you style your TDH boots for autumn
I absolutely love knee-high boots, it’s an autumn/winter staple for me! I’m not one to pair them with trousers, but I think they look mega with skirts and dresses. Whether that be a classic mini length or paired under a midi/maxi dress! – that is why our Val boot is perfect all year round!
